Happy Diwali to all of our friends here.
1st Nov is the Karnataka statehood day. In 1956, 1st Nov the Karnataka state came to an existence, henceforth 1st Nov is K'taka Day and it's a Holiday in Bangalore.
We have decided to go for a long haul to the Chamundi Hills near Mysore. It's around 160 KM from Bangalore and 20 KM from Mysore.
So sometimes in 1st Nov evening we started off from Bangalore to Mysore in train. From Bangalore Central KRS station we hurried up to catch Karwar Express around 8:30 PM. Reached Mysore around 11:30 PM. Then got some very basic hotel to near the railway station to put up.
We almost did not slept off in the night :) This is because around early morning, we need to go to the Chamundi Hills for the temple visit. We also offered some service to the dine hall of the temple where people got food - 3 time meals. Some pictures of the mysore station, hotel and the surrounding mandi market in the 4:00 am next day.
Next is the journey to Chamundi Hills. We walk to the city bus stop. Where we got the bus number 201 to Chamundi hills. Here are the pics:
Then around 7:00 AM we safely reached the Chamundi Hills and the Chamundi devi temple. Some pictures:
Now comes the service part. This temple has a giant cooking and dinning facility where 3 times meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) is provided free of cost. Anyone wants to donate money and/or doing some work in the dinning facility is heartily welcome. So we voluntarily offer the service of cleaning up the used plates during breakfast. The dinning hall pictures, the cleaning up facility and the food serving pictures are below :)
Serving breakfast:
Dish washing service:
People taking breakfast
Our service to the temple, cleaned up plates
Then we returned back from the template, had enough breakfast eaten by both of us to skip the lunch. Just I changed the dress and went to book a scooty and went for some of the nearby places in and around Mysuru : Someswara Temple and the Cauvery river. Some pictures:
And then, as usual, checkout and back to Bangalore in train.
Whole trip was hectic. So of course, in night, I need 2 pegful of Black Dog to ease out. Today morning when I wake up with a hangover, heard from him I had more then 3 peg of Black Dog last night :) :)
Happy Sunday!
